GLENN DANZIG On 'The 3 Faces of Danzig' Toys: 'They're Pretty Funny'
November 27, 2006Michael Christopher of DelcoTimes.com recently conducted an interview with Glenn Danzig. A few excerpts from the chat follow:
On his ultra-cool, limited-edition, toy figure series called "The 3 Faces of Danzig":
"They're pretty funny. When they started sending over prototypes, I thought they were cool — they weren't dorky looking, they were different; big head, little body, it was kinda cool."
"Obviously they're collector toys — but they're toys. It's not like they're superheroes or anything, like when the McFarlane people did Ozzy and he had muscles, it was like, come on!"
On being eager to let his band's image be used when it comes to tweaking societal norms a bit:
"We actually just did a DANZIG notebook — I thought that was cool. Each page has the DANZIG logo on it, so now some kid is going to come in with the notebook with this Satanic skull and fangs, and some school teacher is going to lose their mind going 'What the hell is in my classroom? Get that notebook out of here!' Because I'm sure little kids have gotten in trouble for drawing the DANZIG skull on their notebook — now here's a book with a skull right on it!"
On sticking by his stance that he is done with touring:
"I'm not going to get on that bus anymore. I'm still in good shape and stuff, and it's so great being on stage for that hour and a half each night, but the 20 hours of the day I'm wasting my time, because I'm on the bus. The tour then starts becoming "Why am I on this, I should be home working."
On his upcoming blues album, which was rumored to feature ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell:
"I don't know if that's going to actually happen or not, because right now he's busy with this ALICE IN CHAINS thing, but it's going to be old, dark, creepy acoustic blues; guitars and vocals. It might be Hank Williams III. I did a one off show with him on the 6:66 tour, and we went into a studio for a rehearsal and it was incredible."
